The annual Halloween party featured games, crafts, a costume contest, food and fun. Wolf Den Leader Jackie Cattie found a bunch of Halloween themed arts and crafts projects. Cubmaster Chris Hatton manned a monster-themed corn hole game where kids won candy by sinking a bag. And Lion den leader Patrick Hutton created a really unique Trick or Treat game in which kids reached into a mystery cup to discover a candy treat or a surprise trick, like an ooey, gooey handful of slime. We had 4 categories for the Costume contest this year with Jackie creating golden pumpkin trophies for the winners. In the scariest category there were a lot of deserving entries, but Leo Johansen defended his title as a sort of terrifying Pterodactyl skull creature. I personally have to give an honorable mention to Trey Degulis for his Wendigo, but he didn't wear it throughout the party (too hot) so that may have cost him votes.
Favorite often goes to a theme character that resonates with all ages. Seeing that they're all obsessed with Pokemon it's no surprise that Jack Archer Garrett won as Charmander. The other 2 prizes went to a pair of brothers. I think they were both competing for Most Creative, but older brother Nolan won that with a homemade Cactus suit. Then younger brother got Cutest for his homemade Rubik's cube outfit. At least they both went home winners. Glad to see that effort and creativity were rewarded not just popularity. And even if your Scout didn't win, they went home with handfuls of candy so that's consolation enough.
