Happy Holidays from 462

The annual holiday party was unfortunately forced indoors, but luckily we were already prepared with our own greenery for the festive wreath-making activity. Rather than rummaging around the reserve trying to find the rare Evergreen, we collected the scraps from local Christmas tree sellers and repurposed their trash into our homemade treasures. That in itself is a lesson in Scouting, but the move to indoors also made us more conscious of the mess we leave behind. So the kids (and parents) who helped with clean up in Fellowship Hall are living by the code of "Leave No Trace."

Besides this fun Holiday activity, we also had a large number of new Scouts earning their Bobcat badges and officially starting on their path towards the Arrow of Light. Asst. Scoutmaster Jack Garrett got to hand these honors to a range of kids from 1st Graders to 4th Graders. (It's weird, but Lions aren't eligible for Bobcat because they can't be expected to memorize the Oath and Law that young). I think that Ceremonial Award may be changing in the future anyway. This Holiday Season we are especially grateful for our New Scouts, including the Lions. You are the future of the pack. And that future is bright!
