Finally, Haverford Township Day is back. After a year rained out, and Saturday pushed back to Sunday due to the threat of inclement weather, we had a PARADE. No offense to Chef's amazing cooking or the fun of working the booth, but the parade is my favorite part. Look at these kids smiling faces. Even the ones trying to look tough, couldn't hide their true internal joy. Especially once the candy kicked in.
The change of dates hurt attendance a bit, but we still had a good showing as we marched down Darby from Oakmont to the Skatium. Along the way we tried to maintain structure behind our legacy banner that goes all the way back to the Valley Forge Council days. Valley Forge and Philadelphia councils merged in 1996 so you know that lovely piece of fabric predates anyone on this site's history page. It's seen better days, but we're going to be sad whenever it decides to retire. We had a guest visit from Queens NY, he wasn't in uniform. At least not our uniform. Meanwhile Chef Rich was slinging sausages for 7 hours in a row, while Pastor Tim managed to help set up, then go do his day job sermonizing and such, then bounce back around to help grill egg sandwiches and maintain a table for both the Pack and the church. Those are the real superheroes. They help our kids get this experience. Together with the help of all volunteers, we had a successful fundraiser and showed once again why Scouts is a great part of our community. Give me a 4. Give me a 6. Give me a 2. We are... PACK 462!!!
