French Creek Family Camping 2022

A weekend in the great outdoors, only an hour away. 6 families stayed overnight for at least one night. Some for just Friday night, others just Saturday, and more Scouts stopped by during the day for select activities. We even had appearances from a couple of our recent crossovers to the troop. Seemingly the switch from Summer camping to Spring was at least a partial success.

The boys and their families had a blast. Organized events included fishing (2 big-mouth bass were roasted on an open fire), kayaking & canoeing (with impromptu swimming in the lake as the bigger hit), and Frisbee golf (although that one was more enjoyed by the adults). We also played Wiffle ball and cornhole around the campsite. The kids made their own fun with mini-hikes, a makeshift tug of war with a tree involved, hide and seek, juggling sticks, and more.

Incredible food was provided that went above and beyond former trips. Nice to have a couple Eagle Scouts on board. We ate brats and dogs on Friday night with or without sauerkraut. There were pancakes and sausages for breakfast both mornings. A full taco spread Saturday night. And grilled cheese with slow-cooked cracked ham for lunch. That was even topped off by cupcakes as we celebrated a boy's birthday live at camp. Thanks to all who helped make it happen.
