Pack 462 really took a nosedive in the "COVID years," losing a huge chunk of our older scouts. But this year, our recruitment efforts and word of mouth really proved that there's still a place for Scouts in kid's busy schedules. The younger kids from K through 3rd are not only back, but they've brought their friends along with them. We're even getting interest from neighboring areas and helping direct kids to their appropriate local packs (Alex's Lemonade Stand in Penn Wynne or St. Denis for instance).

So as we finalize our rechartering process for the 2023 calendar year, we now have 52 registered scouts, 3 more who've been trying it out, and another interested Scout that we just found out about today. Of those, more than 30 are new this year. Which means we doubled in size! There's bound to be some attrition, but clearly this is fantastic news. Scouts doesn't work as well in small numbers, because nobody, not even the leaders, can make every event. We have lots of events on purpose. So you can pick and choose and not feel bad when you have a conflict and can't make it. With larger numbers, there's always plenty of friends to hang out with even if one third of kids miss that particular Pack Mtg. Our only remaining weak spot is those Webelo years that we lost, but as long as we keep bringing in the next younger classes, that gap will be filled in 2 years. By then we could have 70 kids, which is on par with the Pack's all-time high from 6 years ago.
